Introduction
The School of Economics of Shenyang University of Technology (SUT) dates back to the establishment of the Department of Management Engineering in 1981. In 1987, in order to meet the demand of the further nation-wide reform and opening-up, the Department of Management of SUT organized two cohorts of students in the five-year bachelor program of Industrial Foreign Trade consisted of students among the Grade 1985 and Grade 1986 under the sponsorship of Liaoning Provincial Government. In 1988, the bachelor program of Industrial Foreign Trade was approved and the first cohort of students was admitted. The Department of Management Engineering was turned into the School of Economics and Trade in 1993. The name of the School of Economics and Trade was changed into the School of Economics and Management in 1999. In 2002, based on the School of Economics and Management, SUT established the School of Economics and the School of Management, respectively.
The School of Economics now owns faculty members who have rich teaching experiences and academic attainments. The faculty has a reasonable constitution of different ages, education, and professional titles. Among them are the Model Teaching Professors of Liaoning Province, the Excellent Teachers of Liaoning Province, the Top 100 Talents in Liaoning Province, the candidate of the Cultivating Program of the Outstanding Youth Scholars in the Liaoning Provincial Universities, the members of the Bachelor Program Teaching Guidance Committees in the fields of finance, economics and trade, and economics by the Department of Education of Liaoning Province, and the managers of the key research bases sponsored by both the Liaoning Provincial Government and the City governments. About 40% of the faculty members have either studied or worked in the European or American universities.
In recent years, the School has carried out 4 national scientific projects, more 20 Ministry of Education Projects, and about 100 provincial, municipal and business projects. It has received the awards of the Achievements of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Liaoning Province, the award of the Science and Technology Advancement of Liaoning Province, and the awards of the Teaching Achievement of Liaoning Province. The faculty members have published above 20 academic books, and more than 100 articles. The School owns many research and education platforms, such as the national internship bases, the Provincial University-Business Joint Internship Bases, the Key Research Base of the Economic and Social Development of Liaoning Province, the model bases of the joint education of professional master degrees of Liaoning Province, and the Shenyang City Social Sciences and Philosophy Research base, etc.

Bachelor Degree Programs
International Economics and Trade
This program deals with the theories and approaches of the exchanges of goods and services and the flow of production factors between counties (regions). Its major contents include the basic theories and practices of international trade, international economic cooperation, international services trade, international direct investment, and multinational corporation business and management, etc. This program tries to cultivate the senior talents for management and profession of government agencies of economic management, international businesses, institutions related to foreign business, international investment and finance, and import and export businesses.
Finance
This program deals with how the persons, institutions and governments acquire, invest and manage capitals and allocate the resources of capital assets. The major contents include the theories and applications of banking, securities and insurance, the theories and applications of money market, capital market and international finance market, the theories and applications of the macro-adjustment of finance and financial economy, and the theories and applications of finance risk management, etc. The graduates can work as senior managers such as bankers, securities analysts, investment and finance advisors, venture capitalists, chief finance officers, etc.
Financial Engineering
This program tries to analyse and solve practical financial problems with the engineering thinking, including the financial product design, the financial product pricing, trading tactics design, financial risk management, etc. In the context of the high-quality development of China, it is based on the new framework of financial markets of the digital economy, and orients to serve the local economic and financial development, and accord with the talent demand for the leap-frog development of the Chinese financial markets in the New Era. It relies on the engineering dominance and the overlapping multi-discipline advantage of the SUT. The cultivation system is constructed of focus on usage, strength on analysis, sought of innovation, and internationalization. Three capabilities will be cultivated on digital analysis, engineering application, and intelligent realization. Emphasis are placed on the integration of financial engineering with computer programming, mathematical modelling, big data analysis, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. The graduates will solve real financial problems with a engineering thinking, and follow the frontier of financial theories and practices with the international perspective.
Master’s Degree Programs
Applied Economics
This academic program applies the basic economic principles and analytical methods to study the related theories, operating regularities, and management mechanisms of various economic activities, or to analyse the economic benefits, social benefits of the fields of various non-economic activities. It characterizes the combination of the theories with practice, strong applicability, and direct service to the economic construction. It has four sub-programs, i.e., Finance, International Trade, Industrial Economy, and Financial Engineering. The objectives of the education are to orient to the new development demand of the national economic development and industrial innovation, and cultivate the innovative and practical talents who are suitable for the relevant fields of applied economy with the comprehensive development of moral, intelligent, physical, aesthetic and laboring abilities.
Master of Finance (MF)
This professional master program tries to orient to the demand of financial specialization and financial management requirement, to cultivate high-end financial talents with the patriotic, global and innovative spirits, with the sound financial theories and skills, with good occupational morality, and with a strong special capacity in the financial fields. It has three sub-programs, i.e., Financial Markets and Financial Intermediaries, Corporate Finance Business, Digital Finance. The objectives of the education are to orient to the new development demand of the national economic development and industrial innovation, and cultivate the innovative and practical talents who are suitable for the relevant fields of finance with the comprehensive development of moral, intelligent, physical, aesthetic and laboring abilities.
Master of International Business (MIB)
This professional master program tries orient to the demands of the comprehensive construction of the open economy system of China, to cultivate the high-end, practical, and cross-disciplinary talents with the sound sense of social responsibility and occupational morality, with sense of global perspectives and innovation, with the international business skills and quality, with the cross-cultural communication capability, and can do the international business real job creatively. It has three sub-programs: i.e., the Northeast Asian Area Economic and Trade Cooperation, Digital Economy and International Service Trade, International Investment and Multinational Operation. The objectives of the education are to orient to the new development demand of the national economic development and industrial innovation, and cultivate the innovative and practical talents who are suitable for the relevant fields of international business with the comprehensive development of moral, intelligent, physical, aesthetic and laboring abilities.
