According to the cooperation agreement signed by Shenyang University of Technology (SUT) in the People’s Republic of China and Delaware State University (DSU) in the United States of America, the School of Economics of SUT is running a 3+2 education program with the relevant departments of DSU.
The program is to provide opportunities for students to take advantage of certain educational experiences offered by DSU, intends to encourage Chinese students to study abroad and provide opportunities to be employed in various fields or to continue their graduate study in doctoral graduate programs in either China or USA.
During the first three years, the students will study at SUT. During the following two years, the students will study at DSU. The initial proposal is to have 5 cohorts for the first duration of 5 years, and a maximum of 20 students for every cohort per academic year in DSU. The students in this program will be selected from the students officially enrolled through the National Enrollment Plan in SUT.
Each student enrolling to DSU will have already fulfilled the first three-year Course Requirements at SUT. A minimum 2.0 undergraduate GPA of the first three-year courses at SUT is required. Official transcripts must be sent to DSU officially by the SUT. The students should attain a minimum score of 5.5 on the IELTS. An online interview may also be required. During the first year at DSU, the students will be treated as SUT’s US Culture Enrichment Program students. When students successfully finish their study of DSU courses and the bachelor thesis requirements of SUT during the first year at DSU, they will receive bachelor degrees and undergraduate diplomas of appropriate programs from SUT and will be officially admitted to DSU graduate program according to DSU admissions policies. If a student satisfies all DSU graduate admission requirement except the required English Proficiency, the student will follow a “2.5+0.5+2” model. More precisely, the student will finish SUT’s 3-year courses during 2.5 years, and go to DSU English Language Institute (ELI) for one semester. When the student reached the ELI graduation requirement, the student will be admitted to DSU graduate program.
Students shall be enrolled at SUT for the first four years. Students shall be enrolled at DSU after they successfully completed the first-three years at SUT. Students who successfully obtain the required credits specified in the attached DSU Master Program curriculum and otherwise fulfill the requirements for the requisite degree will be awarded Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from DSU, and Bachelor degrees and undergraduate diplomas of appropriate programs from SUT.
In the initial three years, only the students from the undergraduate programs run by the School of Economics of SUT can be selected to participate in this joint 3+2 education program. The current undergraduate programs include International Trade and Economics, Finance, Financial Engineering, and Economics. After the initial three years, the students participating in this program may be selected from other undergraduate programs.
